A Different Chick Farm and Orchard is a small, family-run farm sitting on about 6 acres. They fully embody Jonesborough Locally Grown’s mission about offering 100% locally grown produce with their motto: “If we don’t grow it, we don’t sell it.”
A Different Chick is Certified Naturally Grown and USDA Certified Organic, effective December 2020. In addition to produce (which includes 50+ pepper varieties), they are also a certified nursery, graft fruit trees, and start vegetable plants. Since 2016, they have been grafting old and hard-to-find fruit trees and currently have over 200 varieties of heirloom apples growing on their property. Among their product line-up are also a variety of gluten-free baked goods.
As if produce, trees, and baking weren’t enough, they have been raising chickens on fresh pasture since 2011 and selling their eggs. Due to the variety of heritage breeds (20+) in their flock, eggs can be white, brown, blue, green, beige, and a dark terra cotta.
